This specialist position is a permanent part time position working 48 hours a fortnight (0.6 FTE) with full participation in the on call roster. Primarily based in Nelson there is a requirement to undertake some clinical sessions in Blenheim which is approximately 1.5 hours driving time from Nelson.

You will be part of a dedicated team of consultants. The clinic is well equipped with Retinal and YAG lasers, Spectral domain OCT and is supported by experienced Ophthalmic nurses and there are modern well equipped operating theatres.

Situated at the top of the South Island, the Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough region has a combined population of approximately 130,000 and that number is increasing all the time. No wonder, with three large National Parks close by, beautiful beaches, clean rivers, boating, and all manner of outdoor pursuits available within minutes of the city centres of Nelson and Blenheim. For those who enjoy a more leisurely pace, the region is well known for world-class wineries, arts and crafts, and excellent cafes and restaurants.

The successful applicant should hold FRANZCO or an equivalent qualification, enabling specialist registration with the New Zealand Medical Council, together with a current annual practicing certificate.
